This is a skull of an adult Canada Goose (Branta canadensis). Unlike most waterfowl, Canada Geese are grazers that feed mainly on land. They crop grass with their stout bills although they will also eat aquatic plants and crustaceans. The ridges on the bottom of the bill are known as “lamellae” and help to cut vegetation as well as strain seeds and small animals from the water.
